We are Living Streets, the charity for everyday walking.

Our mission is to achieve a better walking environment and inspire people to walk more. We are inviting applications for a new Treasurer Trustee to join our Board of Trustees. This is a voluntary unpaid role which will be available as our current Treasurer must stand down in 2024, having come to the end of their term of six years.

We face a climate emergency, toxic air pollution and a crisis in public health. Walking more and driving less is part of the solution. Living Streets aims to achieve a better walking environment and inspire people to walk more.

Founded in 1929, we are a growing modern organisation with an excellent reputation for evidence-based policy, innovative campaigning and award-winning projects.

We are looking for someone with a substantial financial expertise gained in a finance or business background. Ideally you will already be familiar with charity accounting and the Charity Commission requirements but if not then we can support you while you add this string to your bow.

You will have a first-hand understanding of how trustees of a charity must be concerned with governance and to be aware that the executive function rests with management.

You will be adept at both participating in and chairing committees. Our Treasurer is a member of our Board, a non-executive director of our wholly owned subsidiary Living Streets Services and chairs our Audit and Risk Committee.

You need to show a track record in understanding the needs of our external auditors and in communicating effectively with them, in conjunction with our Director of Finance.

Above all, you should be able to communicate complex financial information in an accessible and accurate way to the rest of the Board and to fellow directors, helping the trustees to meet their fiduciary duties based on a sound collective understanding of the charity’s financial performance and outlook.

For full details on the role description and person specification, please refer to the Candidate Pack.

We welcome applications from people from a diverse range of backgrounds and from all parts of the UK. Whatever your background, a commitment to the values and objectives of the charity will be crucial.

This is a great opportunity for the right person, and we are looking for someone energetic and passionate about our work. If you have these qualities, then we would love to hear from you!

We request no contact from agencies or media sales, applicants are advised to apply directly using the links below.

When applying please ensure that your application is submitted in word format and not PDF format.
